Since 1 January 2020, the city of Barcelona has banned the most polluting vehicles from driving.
It is therefore important to get a pollution sticker or to register your vehicle online.
Here are the vehicles that are no longer allowed to circulate without being registered
motorbikes and mopeds registered before 2003
petrol cars and vans registered before 2000
diesel cars and vans registered before 2005
Spanish residents must buy a pollution sticker, which can be purchased at post offices or online
French foreign vehicles must register online in order to be allowed to drive
Please note that failure to comply with these instructions may result in fines.
What are the steps to register a French vehicle?
- Go to https://zberegistre.ambmobilitat.cat/#tipusAutoritzacio
- Click on the "foreign vehicles" tab
- Select the "tramitación" tab to enter your license plate number. Once validated, the next page will ask you to add some information and documents (vehicle registration document, identity card)
- Your request will be validated, you will have to pay a fee (5€)
- You will later receive a summary email indicating that your application has been accepted and you will also receive a link to click on to finalise your registration.
